From the land of Hyphy where slaps are king and "going dumb" is encouraged, Berkeley, California's Rexx Life Raj stands out by making music for the brain & heart that's still pleasant to the ears, Raised by a god-fearing mother and a Black Panther father in the mecca of progressive politics, Raj's music perfectly encapsulates the beauty and struggle of being a black man in today's world. Raj transitions from hilarious anecdotes to heartfelt gems about love, loss, and self-reflection, often making him both teacher and class clown on the same song. With the ability to seamlessly transition from rapping his ass off to hitting the high note, Rexx Life Raj has become one of Bay Area music's most celebrated voices.
Raj's music has garnered high praise from his peers, critical acclaim from press, and prominent placements from editors across Apple, Spotify, Youtube and more. Furthermore, he has been co-signed by legends like Pharrell, Scott Storch, and Zane Lowe, and released music with modern superstars such as Kehlani, Russ, Kenny Beats, Wale, Larry June and Fireboy DML. In the process, his catalog accumulated over 500 Million streams across all platforms and seen him perform at festivals such as Outside Lands, Rolling Loud, Sol Blume, Lightning In A Bottle, and One Music festival, as well as be in official partnership with the Golden State Warriors, and the San Francisco Giants. He was also selected by Youtube to be part of their inaugural 2021 "Black Voices" artist class, was on BET's Rising Black Artist toWatch 2022 list, and made People Magazine's Emerging Artists 2022 list.
In 2022, Raj released his most personal album yet in "The Blue Hour". The project chronicles his struggles with grief, doubt and love in the wake of the tragic passing of both of his parents during the height of the pandemic. The project garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, Rollingstone, Sway, and more. It also saw him embark on his 2nd national headline tour. Now in 2025, Raj returns to the stage in support of his new album "In Rhythm", boasting features from Mozzy, Babyface Ray, Sango, Mick Jenkins, BLK ODYSSY, Joy Oladokun, Karri, and Marc E Bassy.
